SUYL-Parents Of Only Children

Technically I am a mother of an only child. Clearly that is due to the fact that she is our first, but will she be our only one? We had some complications when I delivered Eliza, I had to have surgery at about 4 weeks post delivery, as a result of that surgery I may not be able to have any more kids. I try SO hard to give it to God, I don't want to worry, and I know his plan is what will be.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

I personally have nothing against having only one child, that just was never my plan. I would love to have 4 children, all girls. I want a big family for us. Mark is an only child, and I have one sister, that doesn't leave a lot of family for Eliza. If the LORD decides we will no longer be able to have biological children we absolutely will find another way. Whether adoption, surrogacy, or kidnapping...OK clearly kidding.

I want my family to have a strong relationship with the LORD. I want them to be close. I want Sunday dinner at our house, even when they have all moved out. I want birthday dinners every year. I want Christmas together. I want to all live in the same area.

I have such dreams for my family, but whether it is a family of 3 or 10, I know we will always be a family.

Hey, I'm Sarah, I found your blog through the Blog Hop till You Drop Hop, and wanted to invite you to stop by my blog and follow back. I also wanted to tell you that you have such a beautiful baby girl and a beautiful family. You are very very lucky.

I really hope that you will be able to add to your family and I'm sure you and your hubby will find a way to do so. I'm 33 years old, still have yet to meet the man of my dreams and I would give anything to be a mom. That's like my ultimate goal.

It's really hard when I see my friends with their little ones. There are times when I choose not to hold them, because it's hard for me to want to give them back. I want that to be my baby. This is something I have really struggled with.

I haven't given up on it, I try to stay optimistic, but I do worry about running out of time and feel like my biological clock is ticking sometimes. I just remind myself every day, I'm still young and as long as I still have all my baby making tools and they are functioning properly it's still a possibility.

So, don't give up. Stay strong and stay positive. Just know that, you have been blessed already though with a beautiful baby girl. Not everyone gets that opportunity:) I know I probably sound like Delilah right now, sorry, lol.

Anyway, have a wonderful weekend:)

Four little girls sounds very cute! But you are already very blessed to have your one.
I'm not a Mama yet, but I want lots of little feet as well. I grew up with two brothers and I felt I really did benefit from that, we all did. We learned how to share, patience and compassion towards each other and so much more. That's what I want for my future babies.

Have a great weekend

p.s some beautiful pics there!

I found your blog through Kelly's Korner. I am the mom to an only child as well. I have a very energetic, almost three year old little boy. He is an only child by choice.
Your daughter is adorable. I love her blue eyes!!

Hey! I found you through Kelly's blog too and due to some healthy complications we might only have one child too (there's a whole post here: http://thehenings.blogspot.com/2011/09/really-hard-post.html) BUT, I wanted to tell you that I have that dorky family you are talking about and I LOVE it-wouldn't trade it for the world :) My hubby & I live in a big old house with my parents and my grandmother (mom's mom). My mom has one brother and he lives all of 2 miles from our house. My hubby and I didn't move in until after we found out we were expecting-we did it for monetary reasons-but I'm glad we did. My grandmother has her kids, grandkids and her great-grandson all together in one area. And we have Sunday lunch every week after church (well-we have lunch, and half the family is always there) and celebrate birthdays together (all as a family). It's crazy-but it's amazing :)

She is beautiful, just trust God, he knows the best plan for your family. He is also a God that can turn a barren land into a fruitful one.

Hey over from Kelly's! Nice to meet you! I too had complications resulting in an emergency C-Section and with my chronic illness our daughter is our one and only our little miracle from GOD! I cannot have anymore children. I trust GOD has a plan for us and I know that Kelcee is our miracle and is just perfect for us. When I get well we may adopt but even that seems it will be difficult since I have a life threatening disease! We pray about it and just leave it up to GOD! You have a gorgeous family and your daughter is precious! We also have a small family! It's nice :)

Come visit my bloggy...I love meeting new girlies

Found your blog through a hop and am a new follower. Your family is beautiful! I have to say that with me being an only child, it does get lonely especially since my mother was an only child and my fathers family I do not have much contact with. But, with this being said it makes me long for a big family :) So I share that want with you.

Even if you may not be able to have more biological children... You are already an amazing mother and it shows in this post. Keep your head up and enjoy baby and hubby and this time you have with each other.

hope you stop by my blog and maybe join in on my shhh Sunday :)

PS we live in MI too!! What town do you live in or near? We are also in lower MI in the downriver area.

Your family is beautiful, these photos are just gorgeous!

Growing up, we lived in the town next to both sets of grandparents and I loved it. We always had Sunday dinner with my mother's parents. I wish that it could be this way for my children, but it won't, as I grew up in NH, my boyfriend grew up in IA, and we live in DC....

I have to agree you are a beautiful family. I am stopping in from the weekend blog hop and I am following now. I hope you can pop by and follow along with us too. One thing I have learned over the last several years is that our plans are not always HIS plans but HE will carry us through no matter what life throws at us. http://ontheoldpath.com/

Danielle said... Best Blogger Tips[Reply to comment]Best Blogger Templates

Your post is brining tears to my eyes. My heart goes out to you. I have two littles ones and so desperately want to have more, but it is isn't in the plans right now. We aren't able to have any right now. It is a hard thing giving everything over to the Lord. It is a lesson I am learning now. I feel the same as you. Although we love our sweet children we of course would love to add more to our family. I just always pray that Heavenly Father will see fit to bless us with more. You are in my prayers and thank you so much for sharing your story. It definitely is nice to know I am not alone.

Its always funny how we can make our plans and then God shows us His plan is better. It took us awhile to conceive Klayton, who just turned 1 and I would love more; but God is teaching me that may or may not be the case and I'm learning to accept His plan even if I don't agree! Lol'
Gotta ask are you a wolverine or spartan? My husband is from Michigan...lol

Kalyn Ernest said... Best Blogger Tips[Reply to comment]Best Blogger Templates

@Kendra Thanks for checking in!! To be honest we don't go either way with UofM of MSU we live, literally, halfway between both so we are surrounded by both. I am a HUGE Lions fan though, I have season tickets and will never miss a game. I even had Eliza rush a bit through Trick Or Treating at church Sunday to get home to the game...oops!
