No Spend November...Um No Way

Have you heard of No Spend November? These people are insane! OK, maybe that is a little harsh but there is no way I could go an entire month not purchasing something that wasn't a necessity. I am following Lori's adventure through No Spend November.

I love shopping, it is a serious issue. I love to buy Eliza cute clothes and toys. I never pay full price for something so I feel that is my excuse of why I am allowed to buy it. My mom calls Eliza's play room her personal Toys R Us. It is a bit excessive...she is 10 months old and already has a play kitchen, not to mention I just bought a *better* one this weekend, a vanity with play make-up, pretty much every thing Melissa and Doug ever made, a sled, a pool, a tent, a swing and slide, 2 strollers, 3 activity tables and on and on and on. A lot of the bigger kid toys are in boxes for the future. When I find something at a good price I just CAN'T pass it up. I also LOVE garage sales. Almost every Thursday Eliza and I would get up first thing and head out in search of deals. Also, our local Salvation Army has half off kids stuff on Tuesdays. I head up there and get dvds and toys for Eliza. I get so much for cheap!

When I grocery shop I purchase almost everything with a coupon. I did not pay for Eliza's formula until she was 7 months because I was able to use coupons and get it for free. I don't buy baby food, Eliza eats what we eat. At first it was pureed, now it is just in small pieces. I use cloth diapers, I know EWWW, but I love them. The investment at first can be a shock but not having to buy diapers every month is wonderful. The fact that I can use them for future babies is also a great way to save.

I do buy Eliza mostly Gymboree clothing, it is so incredibly cute and the quality is great. I purchase a lot of it off of Ebay, I can get outfits for under $10 in great condition. Even if Eliza tears them apart it was a great price.

So thinking of No Spend November I try to justify my spending but I realize it is ridiculous. I might not be able to do No Spend November but I am going to try to do No Spend The Second Week of November. All week I will not spend money on anything accept bills. We have plenty of food for the week, no going out, Eliza has plenty of toys to play with, no new toys, and I have lots of supplies for crafts to make...sorry Joanns no visit this week.

To keep me on track, here are a few embarrassing pictures of Eliza's closet from BEFORE she was born...this was all stuff I purchased for her. Yeah she didn't wear half of it.

What newborn doesn't need 12 pairs of shoes?

I love cloth diapers!

No Spend Nov would never work for me. I buy at least on cloth diaper a month. It's an expensive, adorable addiction!
