The Very Hungry...Little Girl??

Since Eliza started to eat solid food, it has always been a struggle. She is very picky about texture, so she refused most foods, especially meat. We broke every rule out there of bribing her to get her to eat. We tried snacks, we tried TV, we did it all, but this girl wouldn't eat.

I brought it up at every DR visit but the assured me she was growing fine. Every night before bed we would have to feed her oatmeal to make sure she slept at night without waking up saying she was hungry.

Then, one day, a miracle happened. 3 days ago she came to me and said "mommy, I'm hungry" and from then on we have had the worlds best eater.

Her normal breakfast would be half a banana, or maybe a small bowl of yogurt. Yet yesterday she ate 2 waffles some blueberries and juice. That was about the equivalent of what she would eat all day.

Last night at dinner Mark and I weren't sure how it would go. I made chicken and that is usually a no go. I shredded it up really small and mixed it in with some mashed potatoes. We explained she had to at least try it. We allowed her new Nemo figurine to sit on the couch near by and watch her. With each bite she would say "Nemo, I took bite!" "oh mommy, delicious!" she ate it all! Not only did she eat the whole bowl, she asked for 2 squeezies after that. She even ate a scoop of ice cream as a reward and finished off a bowl of popcorn.

While going to bed last night I checked her teeth, I think I found our answer. For the past few months her 2 year molars have been making their way though. All 4 have broke through now, 1 completely through. I think the pain is finally subsiding and she is able to actually eat.

As I type this she just finished off 2 fish sticks and an apple.

I sure don't know where this child came from but I really hope she stays, this is making life SO much easier and meal time much more enjoyable when I can eat warm food!

Yay! Glad she's eating! Like I told you, it seems like we have a really good day and then a bad day. We pretty much live on fruit, squeezies and string cheese over here ;)

Those are her 3 favorite things! I am shocked at all she has ate lately, I pray it doesn't stop. My grocery bill will be going up, but I will feel so much better about her getting the proper nutrients.
