My Little Dumbo

I am unsure why, but I have always had a deep love for elephants. A gentle giant, their intelligence, their ability to show emotion. It is beautiful.

When I designed Emelia's nursery I revolved it around elephants and I knew I wanted to incorporate it in her newborn photos too.

I came across this ADORABLE Elephant Crochet Set from Pink Poppies Studio on Etsy.

I Just Want To Feel Better!!

This has been 2 of the toughest months I have had in a long time. I am not sure if it is because of being so tired or if it is the extreme winter we have had, but I can not stay healthy.

Over the last 2 months I have had an allergic reaction to the medical tape they used in the hospital, a sinus infection, pneumonia, I am just recovering from the flu and I now think I might have mastitis.

Seriously, it has to get better soon, right? I am so behind on so many things, especially the blog.

I had plans to post all of Emelia's newborn pictures this week(she is 2 months old already) but I was barely able to get out of bed. Mark took time off of work so I could at least get some rest to try to fight it. I found myself nursing less because I just felt so ill and I think it caused me to develop mastitis.

If there has been anything good to come from this week, Emelia is on new reflux medication and so far, it has been amazing.

The first night she was on it, she slept 11 hours straight, she is usually up every 2 hours screaming. I think her poor body was just so exhausted from fighting that she just passed out.

I am finally seeing the baby that I knew was always in there, but just struggled to come out.

I have longed for this smile for 2 long months.

Eliza has even noticed a difference, "she smiles at me mommy, she is so happy!"

This little beauty has been a dream these past few days. I have had so much fun with her. Emelia takes so much of my attention it was great to have some one on one time..even if it was at the grocery store.

I promise I will get caught up soon. Mark has tomorrow off work so I am going to lock myself in my room to get some posts done!!

Emelia-Two Months Old!

Emelia Michelle,

How has another month gone by? 2 months old?? This month has been the most difficult month I have had. You have severe reflux and we just can't get it under control. You cry, a lot, it breaks my heart. It also makes Sissy very sad, she asked me the other day "Why can't Emelia be happy?".

We have you on medication and we also take you to the chiropractor 3 times a week. With the trauma you had at birth, your little spine is out of place.

You had your first babysitter this month. Aunt Kathy came to watch you and Eliza so Daddy and I could go see a movie. Thanks for being so good for her!

A Month On Placenta Pills

I wanted to give you guys an update on the Placenta Encapsulation.

When I first came home from the hospital I started taking the pills. My life was in a whirlwind trying to figure out life with 2 kids so I am not sure how much they helped. Unfortunately, a few days after being home I broke out into a severe allergic reaction. While the DR tried to figure out what it was from, she advised me to stop taking my pills.

After figuring out my reaction was to the medical tape(it was horrific) I started up on my pills again. I was only taking 2 pills per day as I wanted to go into it slowly. I instantly saw a difference. Though I was running on just a few hours of sleep each night, I still had energy throughout the day. My milk production was keeping up with everything Emelia needed and I was even able to start storing some in the freezer for the future.

I have been taking 2 pills daily for about a month now, as I wanted to have them last as long as possible, and I am loving how I feel. I have not had to go back on my anxiety medication, I am still able to freeze milk and for the most part, my energy level is still up.

I recently started to feel ill. I had a fever and Sinus Infection. I doubled up my pills the first day I noticed it and it was better by the morning. I am sure the placenta pills helped me kick the infection.

I only have about a week left of pills and I am really bummed. It is so nice knowing I am not putting toxins and medicine in my body that I don't need and that I don't want being transferred over to Emelia.

If we have future children I will absolutely do Placenta Encapsulation with Mothers Own. Courtney was so sweet to work with, incredibly professional and very knowledgeable. If you are in the Metro Detroit area and would like more information contact Courtney or head on over to her Facebook page!
