She Runs Like A Girl, Try To Keep Up

Eliza has found a new passion and nothing can seem to stop her. Well, lets see how that goes when the snow comes!

Back in April, Eliza took part in her first 5k and she hasn't slowed down since.

Coming up on 2 miles, hadn't slowed down

I am not sure where she got this interest from. Mark used to run, but because of a knee injury, he doesn't do it nearly as often as he used to, and lets be honest, unless it is running after the ice cream truck, you wouldn't see me out there. But thanks to her new found love, we are all running every week.

I am not big into team sports, mostly because I feel the pressure on kids is a bit much and I always feel bad for whomever loses. So when Eliza decided to start running, I figured this would be perfect. That was until I realized she is too young to do it on her own. So her and I lace up our shoes about 4 times a week and go for a run through the neighborhood.

The immense amount of pride I have for this girl is indescribable. She shows such determination, strength and confidence, I could bottle it and sell it for millions. During a run last week she said to me

Momma, no one can stop me! I am the coolest! I am Eliza P!!

As silly as it was, I beamed ear to ear. She truthfully believes this, as she should, and I hope it never goes away.

She has even met new friends running

As of today, she has participated in two 5k races and 3 shorter kid races. On the schedule we have three more 5ks set before it gets too cold. I am always on the lookout for other races for us to join. I am going to document her progress as she keeps improving her time and distance.

She doesn't know it, but we have a surprise come next November if she keeps up with this!
